Well, another Ulduar week. It was a funny week. We started off a bit slow and life-less, but things got better and on Monday we found ourselves in a position again to have an evening of Vezax. We had to duff up Mimiron first, but once I’d got my usual charge into the Laser Barrage out of the way, he went down.
So we descended into the madness…
We had a reasonable first try, then 2 horrible goes. Then someone suggested that the healers stand in with the melee so as not to have to keep moving about and only come out for mana replenishment. I handed out Fel Mana potions, we buffed up and had some noms and went in to try again. Aaahhhhhh – don’t you just love it when things go to plan
He went down! We managed to kill Vezax! Woo Hoo. That felt GOOD, so very, very good. As a guild it was our 47 attempt at him. I just counted them all up
I’m not sure if that is good or bad, but it was dedication and perseverance and I feel proud to have been a part of it.

It was kind of hard to get a picture of a mob that has no face :-S
So – we came face to face with the Old God. It is the first time in 3 years that I have been on an end boss before the next content is out. It was quite a moment for me. I really didn’t think that it would happen for me after I left my hardcore guild and moved server. I’d forgotten how much I got a kick from it.
We had a oops start – the event starts as soon as you put a toe in the room to try to work out who Sara is and just how ugly a woman can be – be warned. Here is a picture so if you find yourself standing there you don’t need to go in and look and drive your fellow raiders insane.

We had about 7 tries and decided to call it a night and that we would go back on Tuesday before the patch to have some more tries. We kicked Razorscale’s butt on the way out just to vent our frustration and get some more loot and a badge.
So – Tuesday came with freedom to just try Y-S with no trash to clear, nothing to stand in our way. Yeah, I know, we aren’t supposed to be raiding so much, but hey – it’s very, very exciting and everyone was up for it. We had too many healers and not enough dps online so I said I would try out my new evil respec and go shadow. I’m not sure that trying out a new spec on a brand new boss while co-ordinating moving out of puffy clouds was my brightest idea, but I think as I got it more co-ordinated I did actually manage 2k dps at one point.
A lock came online so I said I would stand out of the raid so we (as a guild) could have more of a chance. Arguments followed about which healer would drop out – I love my guild – as soon as I said I was leaving they all wanted to offer to go *sniff*. Laphroaig, the darling and most newly married among us, decided to go spend time with his wife, so I went back in my healing comfort zone. MUCH LOVE LAPH.
Back to the wiping. We got to stage 2 a couple more times as people learnt that the clouds in phase 1 are bad toys … very, very baaaaad. Then all of a sudden we reached stage 3! OMG! The kill smelt soooo close. We died a bit fast then. I think it was a combination of excitement and that not many of us had read about phase 3, not really expecting to get there.
We had a few more tries, but it was getting later, people were getting tired and losing focus, so after 16 glorious attempts we gave up.

It’s kind of sad to have not killed him before patch 3.2 hit us, but a month ago I would not have dreamt that I could have been standing before Yogg-Saron at all, so is pleasing to have had 23 attempts at killing him! Mr Blobby be warned – we ARE going to kill you soon…..
