The Day Deathwing Came

Well, since cataclysm came out I’ve been really busy – work, home, Christmas, New Year and finding time to play WOW have all conspired to wear me out and leave me very little time for much else.

I have lots I could say on my blog but little energy to actually do it. My pet collection is going well – my latest is the fox kit which I am incredibly pleased to get – but he’s for another day…..

The real reason for the post is to do with Deathwing. Ever since I read about the achievement “Stood in the Fire” I wanted to get it. Every time somebody else in the guild gets killed I find out where and when and get all the details. I’ve seen screenshots, read bogs and even Barkie, my husband has managed it – he thought he had done something stupid of been jumped by a rogue until son and I told him what it was!

Last night I was tired. Again. I had worked all day, had kids off school and helped son with his GCSE maths revision. I was invited to run a HC, but just could not face it. I decided to go to my quiet little platform off the South coast of Uldum to fish and chat. My supplies of tasty priestly snacks had run low, so I thought I would build up my supplies.

. fish, chat

. fish, chat

. fish, chat

I was chatting away when I heard a roar and the sky turned red. In fact my whole screen turned into a beautiful sunset screen.

Beautiful Uldum sky

As you can see from the chat log in the next screenshot, I had a fair idea of what was about to happen but it seemed to be taking a long time so I mounted up to fly and see if I had missed it. This is what greeted me as I rose up from sea level :) (click for bigger piccies).

Good Grief! He is HUGE!

You can see from the chat that it had taken him a minute to toast Uldum!

He flew over the top of me …

… and turned me into an angel as I snagged an achievement :)

I got back to my corpse and managed to res. The skies cleared and I flew up to survey the devastation.

So much Squeeeeeee

I’m not sure my squeee-o-meter can handle much more this week….

Moonkin Hatchling

AND he dances with you…

AND he occasionally plants flowers at your feet.

OMG, he’s so gorgeous – how do I choose between him and the singing sunflower?

The Shattering – I like it – new pets :)

So the world is all new. I had seen bits of it on the beta, but not much really. I think I really wanted to se it all proper for myself in the real game.

I did however keep my eye firmly on a wonderful new blog I have found….

Perks N Peeves

This blog is everything a pet obsessed person could want and then some.

I found out that there were 4 new possible pets that would arrive when the Shattering happened. Last night I got 3 of them before I ran out of time, but the last is merely some questing so I can do that at my leisure over the next few days.

As Quintessence suggested – the hardest new pet was probably going to be Mr Grubbs as he is a drop off a bag that is a rare drop off a mob IF you have a buff that you get after doing lots of quests…… phew!

So first off I set sail for WPL and crossed into WPL. I found Fiona, ran about EPL for a while killing stuff and rescuing people and got the buff. Then I set off annihilating EPL. No bag drops. No hidden stash. I checked I had the right buff – check…. kill more…. OOH bag… Nope – wrong sort of bag. That was a scum covered bag. Kill more …. OOH, OOH – Hidden stash – YAY. Open it up – MR GRUBBS nestled in the bottom of it – FIRST DROP – WHEEEEEEE – Happy dance :)

On to next pet. This time I was after the Singing Sunflower.

For this one I knew I would need to enlist the help of my son – the imba game player extraordinaire! He who has played Plants vs Zombies and would be best equipped to do Peacebloom vs Ghouls in Hillsbrad for me.

Ewwwww – Hillsbrad is horrible now – Southshore is a mess. Nowhere likes alliance. PVP server…. urgh.

Fortunately I think it was only die hard pet lovers who were there and all the Horde showed respect and didn’t try and kill me in between quests. I managed 3, then failed, so dragged son away from his Goblin rep grind (yes – he is Horde – now a Troll Druid and looking funky) – he failed. He tried again and won, then killed the boss for me as well.

Singing Sunflower

Thanks to Warcraft Pets for the picture.

HURRAH! 2 pets down and going well – the nastiest ones out of the way :)

< brief pause in obsessive play to put daughter to bed >

Next up was the next closest – The Tiny Flamefly. This one was a complete pain – took me about an hour and a half to do all the quests that you have to complete in Burning Steppes before you finally get it, but I managed it just before Barkie came and told me I should really stop obsessing and go to bed.

So there we are – a wonderful, wonderful evening – 3 NEW PETS.

I completely forgot to take any screenshots. Durrr.

Only Withers left to get and he should be easy and will give me a chance to see what Deathwing has done to Darkshore. I do hope he’s not killed the music. I LOVE the music in Darkshore.

Cute Beta Picture

I had a chance to fly about in the Beta.

I know I should be trying out my class and stuff, but there are plenty of others to do that who are far more eloquent and capable than I am.

I bring you the news that you really want to hear….

There are more cute baby murlocs…. they are in the newly designed Wetlands…..

baby-murloc

They are totally squee-worthy :)

Oh and the new Wetlands is a mess – broken dams and water everywhere. Menethil is totally flooded. The horses were saved, including the special black stallion that was Seph’s first horsie at lvl 40 (back in the old days when you had to work for your mount in terms of gold and level). Water effects are cool though. They are probably here already, but I’ve not noticed them, but walking through shallow water is great.

And yes, I need to work out how to get a better resolution on my screenies and think I have found a way – /console screenshotQuality 10 apparently sorts it – will try it and see.

Yell my name

I’ve been busy saving the World (of Warcraft) – note the gratuitous use of South Park reference. I just love that episode. If you’ve never seen it you should. Season 10 Episode 8 – “Make Love Not Warcraft”.

Mr Stormwind King shouted my victory in being a mistress of disguise. Amazing how you can fit in with some folks if you have the right kind of dress on.

win1

Then I nipped over to Outland to see if I could find some rares and got distracted finishing up my quests in Terrokar forest, which included saving the folks in the Allerian Stronghold from a looming shadow.

win2

A week or so ago, all residents of Stranglethorn Vale were relived I’m sure to hear that I was a Slayer of Hakkar – well, me and a guildie were anyway – I just got the job of lugging his dripping heart over to the Isle to hand it in :)

win3

So – I’m ready for some new challenges. Look out Deathwing – Sephrenia is ready for you.

Priest T11 picture

Oh dear. Just that – oh dear. Priest T11 preview is up on MMO Champion.

So – we girlies get open tummies, HUGE 1980s shoulderpads with their own built in moonwells and stupid pumpkin shaped hats with curtains on. Not very happy…… (click the link above for a far bigger picture that works – I’m still waiting for my hubby to sort out my WordPress to show pictures properly).

Thank goodness for ‘Show Helm’ off buttons. I might have to start a petition to turn off my shoulder pads too.

I do like the pretty shoes though :)

How I got to 100 mounts

The mount is the Blue Dragonhawk reward from the 100 mount achievement.

Ok, Ok, so how did I do it?

Here is the link to my mount collection. I wasn’t really going to do it but as I edged closer and closer I thought maybe I could. The site is not as user friendly to me as the pet one, but was the one I found easiest to use.

Basically I bought every mount I could get from reputation (apart from the WInterspring Tiger – I could not face the drudgery of the grind for that one) – Sha’tari Skyguard, Netherwing – you can buy ALL the drakes after you have chosen your first in Shattrath – just go back to the ledge and talk to the Drake Dealer there, I bought every mount from each city, all of the agent tournament ones that only cost 5 seals and 400g. I did Kurenai rep so I could buy the Talbuks. I finally got all my Hodir rep so I could buy the Mammoths (never mind the enchants – what about the mounts). Cenarion Expedition – that is a pretty mount.

I got my green proto-drake from the Oracles after almost a year of collecting and hatching an egg from them. I bought my way into another proto-drake….

drake1

I didn’t play the odds or beg people to play horde so I could kill them at Halaa for the war talbuks.

I farmed AQ40 with Asharis – my pet collector helper best friend – it’s probably all his fault – he got the Blue Dragonhawk a while ago and proudly showed it off to me. He also also helped on various mount run attempts. We got the 4 AQ mounts fairly easily by killing everything up the the first boss and resetting and doing it again until we got them.

I bought the Travelers Tundra Mammoth 18 months ago with my inheritance gold from Dad, then moved on to the rest of the mounts you can buy in Dalaran. I got an old guild friend to make me a motorbike.

The Grand Black War Mammoth dropped in VOA asnd I bought it from the guy who won the roll for about 3000g (can’t really remember what I paid, but I’m sure he was happy).

I was finally lucky with my brewfest mounts and got my ram on the 5th day this year.

I have raised my reputations to exalted with 35 factions in the process of mount chasing.

I treated myself to the celestial steed for my birthday.

I did some pvp – enough to buy all the mounts from there (50000 honor each). Also now you don’t need AV rep to buy the Alterac valley ram – you just need 50k honor and make a trip to the mountains above Southshore.

Then came the more difficult ones. Basically it was a matter of perseverance.

So far I’ve done 31 Baron Rivendare kills with NO mount.

I did 11 Magister’s Terrace runs and got lucky with the Swift White Hawkstrider (thanks Justigar!).

hawkstrider3

I did numerous Argent Tournament things to get more seals – thanks so much to all my guildies for coming and killing Chillmaw – Gruffnut, Kata, Erden, oh the list goes on …. I don’t actually think there’s a single guild member who has not helped me kill Chillmaw at some point :)

No tiger or raptor from ZG – which is a shame because I really would like the tiger.

The last few came from the argent tournament. I used up 100 seals each for 2 horsies and made it to my 100 mounts.

I still want the polar bear mount and will continue to do my Storm Peak daily for that and will occasionally do a Baron run just to see if he will ever cough up his horsie. Guild members have quoted rates of 1-143 runs to get it to drop. Not sure I would manage 143 runs. It’s a bit of a pain to do compared to a ret pala doing it, but I manage (takes about 15 minutes for me). There were still opportunities for other mounts when I got my lucky drop, but I am pleased I have finished it. Now I can do the runs for fun rather than do the grind and feel obliged to do them daily.

I think that is about it – bit of a rushed post – apologies… it’s Sunday and the family want my attention :)

I wish I could have done this

I came across this again today. It is so beautiful. It was linked on WOW.com and I remembered that I had seen it before. I’m so glad I found it again. Go look, be amazed. Marvel at the beauty.

World of Warcraft Pets and Mounts

Being a cloth wearer it’s something I could not do. Also being somewhat time challenged and lacking in true focus I could not either. But you have to admit – it’s truly gorgeous.

I have a few screenies of me and my pets where the mounts match the pets which I keep meaning to put together in a post. Who knows maybe one day I will…..

When I get enough sleep.
